In this edition of the Altern newsletter, we’re talking about a real launch on Altern.
Three weeks ago, we added a new feature to Altern called BuildBoard, which gave the owners of products who had added their products to Altern the opportunity to participate in the weekly launch competition on BuildBoard and be exposed to votes from Altern users.
This feature was added to our website around three weeks ago, but until we could organize it and put it on more public pages where our users could see it, things moved slowly. For two weeks, practically only a few small products launched, and they received very few votes because they still weren’t on the homepage of our website.
But the past week was the first week that we held a real launch.
And this week, MagicShot, InkCraft, and BlueSearch received the most votes from Altern users.
The fact that the #1 product this week received 32 upvotes from our users was truly unbelievable, and we’re happy that your participation on BuildBoard is increasing every day.
And here, I also want to invite all of you to add your products to Altern, and if you’ve already added them, launch them on BuildBoard.
At the end of every week, we give the products that rank #1, #2, and #3 that week a Product of the Week badge from Altern, and they will also be announced to our users in this newsletter.
We’ve also made improvements to the Alternatives, Help, and Leaderboard pages, which we hope will help you find products in the AI world more easily and accurately.

But in this week’s news, perhaps more than anything else, Jev received attention. Jev is a new AI model from TypeSafe AI and the company’s first System One Model. Unlike traditional LLMs that are designed to generate text and chat with users, Jev is designed to make fast and structured decisions that software can use directly. Instead of generating long text responses, it can return choices, scores, and probabilities, making it particularly interesting for AI agents and automation. TypeSafe says Jev is significantly faster and more efficient than traditional LLMs for these types of tasks, and it will be interesting to see how developers use this new approach in real-world AI products.
